Sew and Tell – In Progress

5 Aug

I am still working on sister’s quilt.  I ran into a little hurdle — which turned into a BIG hurdle.

I bought cheap fabric.  Not all cheap fabric – just one fat quarter of cheap yellow fabric. When I paired the cheap fabric with the not-so-cheap fabric, it was a problem. The cheap fabric shrunk, leaving me with non-square blocks.

So, I ordered some new fabric, thinking it would come in and I would pick right back up.  Well, While waiting for the mail, we got a puppy and I lost some of my sewing mojo.

It will get come back – hopefully soon.  I’ve promised sister her quilt before the end of summer.  So, I do have a deadline.

In other news, we celebrated a big deal in our town.

A new fabric store!! Seriously, I almost drove off the road when I first saw what was coming to town.  Then I literally screamed and clapped for joy when I saw the “Now Open” signs.  The day we went, they weren’t “officially” open.  They were still stocking and were planning their “Grand Opening Sale” for next weekend.  So, the fabric selection wasn’t huge, but it was still fantastic — and the store smelled so good. I’m just so glad to have another option on my side of town.

I didn’t buy anything at Hancock because I promised Sister that I would finish her quilt before I thought of anything new.  I really need to finish that quilt!!  They had some good stuff in the new store.
